Why We Help
The founder Kapinga Bashala was left alone for 9 years after a massive heart attack took the life of her first husband at the age of 45.
Had 4 children on her hands and 5 month pregnant. For 2 years, she credits her family, friends, church & God for being there for her. She struggled but always said to herself, that some day, she would do better. That some day, she would give back.
Kapinga's struggle was the inspiration for her to create the non-profit, Kapy Bash Foundation in the Dr Congo. She wanted to give back to this community, what she got, when she was in need.
Kapinga does not do this alone. Co- Founder of the Kapy Bash Foundation is her 2nd husband, Pediatrician, Dr Luc Kamanga along with other Medical Professionals, the support of Unicef and other non- profits assist and give free care. Group of healthcare professionals who visit the region monthly to provide free consultations and follow up.

There is still a lot to be done. It is our goal to make a difference in lives of the Women & Children in Democratic Republic of Congo.
Let put our hands together, let make changes.
Thousand of people suffer from different type of diseases due to poor hygiene, malnutrition, improper drinking water, and lack of accessibility to healthcare facilities. The DR. Congo has one the highest death rate of children under the age of five (1/7 children die before they reach their 5th birthday in the Congo from Unicef report), The infant mortality rate is 1 out of every 10 births don't reach the age of 6 months. These statistics are a direct result of not having access to adequate healthcare facilities. Diseases such as Diarrhea, Malaria, Measles, HIV, Malnutrition accounted for 98 out of 1000 deaths.
Maternal mortality rate in the Congo in childbirth is 549 deaths due to poor hygiene, little access to healthcare facilities, and giving birth at home, alone.
Our goal is:
-To decrease the mortality rate in Mothers and Children
-To make a difference in the lives of the Women & Children in Democratic Republic of Congo.
By empowering these women, by educating these women, they can in turn teach others.
